Privacy
This is a personal blog. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comments and no ads, and I do not sell or share anything about you. The only thing that counts visits is Google Analytics, and this page says exactly what it collects.
Google Analytics is switched off on this copy of the site, so no analytics script runs and no analytics cookies are set. The rest of this page still applies.
analytics only
What is collected
When analytics is on, Google Analytics 4 records the pages you view and roughly how you got here, your approximate location (country and city, worked out from your IP address), and your device, browser, screen size and language.
I use this only to see which posts people read, so I know what to write next. I see totals and trends in the Analytics dashboard, not a record of any one person.
What is not collected
- No name, email or account: there is nothing to sign up for.
- No advertising, and no ad or remarketing features in Google Analytics.
- Google signals is switched off, so visits are not linked to Google accounts or across devices, and IP anonymisation is on. Google says Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.
- No third-party fonts, embeds or social widgets. Fonts are served from this site.
- I do not sell, rent or share data with anyone.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes each request to deliver the page, which includes your IP address, browser and the address you asked for, and keeps short-lived logs for security and to keep the site running. Vercel's privacy policy explains how it handles them.
How Google uses the data
Google processes analytics data under its own terms. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
How to opt out
- Block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings.
- Install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Use a content blocker or a browser that blocks trackers. The site works fully without the analytics script.
Questions or requests
If you want to know what data relates to you, or want it removed, email me. If you email me, I keep the message only to reply to you. Under the India DPDP Act and the GDPR you have the right to ask, and I will answer.
Changes to this page
If I change the analytics tool or the host, I will update this page first and change the date at the top.
